What will be on the test
The test is computer-based and is a series of 24 questions. It is based on the book 'Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship'.
It is a good idea that you read the book 'Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship'. This is the official handbook for the Life in the UK test. However there are a number of other books and study material available.
Many of the test questions will be about life in the UK, as described in the 'Life in the United Kingdom' handbook. The test will also include a number of questions which ask you about the part of the UK you live in , whether it be England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
It would be beneficial for you to study chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the second edition 'Life in the United Kingdom' handbook.
How long is the British citizenship test
You will have exactly 45 minutes to answer 24 questions, this is an average of just under two minutes per question. This gives you enough time to select your answers and check them over before the end of the test. You don’t get more points for finishing the test quickly so remember to use all of the allocated time that you are given.
