You will discover the results of the test at the end of the test session. The test supervisor will inform you of the result by telling you whether you have passed or not.
the passing mark
The pass mark for the test is around 75%.
If you succeed in passing the test, your test supervisor will give you a pass notification letter. You will have to sign the pass notification letter before you leave the test centre. This letter contains information of your test date, supervisor, centre location and a unique ID number.
When you have finished your application for citizenship, you should add your pass notification letter and send both documents to the Home Office. The Home Office will keep the information it gets from test centres for a period of time. However, to avoid problems, you should submit your application as soon as possible after passing the test.
If you lose your pass notification letter, you will not be given a replacement. This means that you may have to pay the testing fee to take the test again.
If you fail the test
Your test supervisor will let you know if you have not passed the test. You should not make an application for naturalisation as a British citizen or for indefinite leave to remain if this happens.
You can take the test again buy you will have to wait a minimum of 7 days to take the test again. Your results notification letter will give you feedback on which areas you should study again. You will then need to book a new test date and time with your test centre.
